About Key to Change

Key to Change's mission is to inspire underserved youth through world-class music instruction and support their development as self-aware leaders.

As a nonprofit music education organization, Key to Change provides violin and viola instruction, performance opportunities, mentorship, leadership development, and educational experiences designed to help young people develop confidence, discipline, artistry, and a greater sense of possibility for their futures.

We believe excellence matters not only in what we provide our students, but also in how we communicate, build relationships, serve our community, and steward the people who invest in our mission.

About the Role

The Marketing & Digital Engagement Manager leads Key to Change's day-to-day marketing, digital advertising, social media, website, SEO, visual brand, and multimedia content efforts. This is not simply a social media or content manager position. We are looking for someone who understands how great marketing works: how to capture attention, tell compelling stories, understand audience behavior, build trust, and move people from awareness to action.

The ideal candidate is both creative and analytical. They can develop a compelling campaign concept, collaborate with a content creator on video, create strong visual materials, manage digital advertising, improve a webpage for search and conversion, and use data to determine what should happen next.

This is an experienced, hands-on manager role, not an entry-level or early-career position. The successful candidate will arrive with the professional expertise necessary to independently manage the day-to-day marketing function while collaborating with leadership on organizational strategy and priorities.

The Marketing & Digital Engagement Manager works closely with the Communications & Development Manager, program staff, leadership, and creative partners to grow Key to Change's visibility and attract prospective students, families, donors, supporters, and community partners. Every prospective student who discovers our programs, parent who considers enrolling their child, donor who learns about our impact, and community member who encounters our work begins with an experience of the Key to Change brand. This position helps shape that experience and creates pathways that move people from awareness to engagement and action.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy & Audience Growth | 25%
  • Implement Key to Change's marketing strategy across digital and traditional channels.

  • Understand Key to Change's audiences and develop journeys that move people from awareness to interest, engagement, and conversion.
  • Apply principles of consumer behavior, including urgency, relevance, trust, social proof, personalization, and strong calls to action.
  • Establish measurable campaign goals, evaluate performance, and identify opportunities to expand Key to Change's reach.

Digital Advertising, SEO & Conversion | 20%
  • Plan, execute, monitor, and optimize paid digital advertising across platforms such as Google, Meta, and YouTube.
  • Manage advertising budgets and evaluate cost per lead, conversion rates, return on advertising spend, and other performance indicators.
  • Manage Key to Change's SEO strategy, including keyword research and optimization of website pages, program descriptions, content, and metadata.
  • Develop landing pages and conversion pathways for enrollment, events, fundraising campaigns, and other priorities.
  • Use analytics to understand audience behavior, identify points of friction, and improve performance.

Social Media & Content Strategy | 20%
  • Lead Key to Change's social media strategy and manage its presence across appropriate platforms.

  • Monitor engagement and audience behavior and use those insights to continually improve strategy.

Website & Digital Experience | 15%
  • Oversee the day-to-day content and marketing performance of the Key to Change website.
  • Create and update webpages, landing pages, program information, calls to action, images, and other content.
  • Ensure the website remains accurate, visually compelling, easy to navigate, and responsive to the needs of prospective students, parents, donors, and community members.
  • Use website analytics and conversion data to identify and implement improvements.

  • Develop creative concepts that are visually compelling and consistent with Key to Change's brand.
  • Provide creative direction to photographers, videographers, content creators, designers, animators, and other contractors as needed.

The Person We're Looking For

You don't have to come from the nonprofit world. You might come from digital marketing, e-commerce, advertising, consumer brands, education, media, entertainment, public relations, an agency, or another environment where your job was to understand people and motivate them to act.

What matters is that you are curious about audiences, excited by great ideas, visually creative, comfortable with data, and motivated by results. You understand that effective marketing begins with knowing who you are speaking to and respecting their intelligence, experiences, and aspirations.

You should have an appreciation for young people, education, the arts, and the role classical music can play in opening doors and expanding possibilities. This position is best suited for an experienced marketing professional who has already developed a strong foundation in their craft. We will teach you Key to Change: our mission, students, programs, communities, voice, and aspirations. We are looking for someone who will bring the marketing expertise, professional judgment, creative confidence, and experience necessary to help us reach the next level.

Schedule & Working Environment

This is a full-time, primarily on-site position based at our Renton studio.

The schedule is designed to provide consistent work during Key to Change's primary afternoon and evening student programming hours. Occasional schedule adjustments may be required for concerts, special programs, or organizational events, with advance notice whenever possible.

This position involves frequent interaction with students, families, instructors, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate should be comfortable spending most of their workday in a busy, active studio environment.

Application Requirements

Candidates should submit:
  • Resume
  • Cover letter explaining their interest in Key to Change and this position
  • One example of a campaign they helped develop, including the objective, target audience, their specific role, strategy, and measurable results
Finalists may be asked to complete a short, time-limited marketing exercise as part of the interview process.
